BIG TROUBLE FOR START-UPS AND SPOTIFY

Millions of phones ping and make a blurring commotion notifying their coveted (and vexed of ads) user base that the breakdown of what they have been searching for incessantly is finally here. But to their deepest remorse, Apple prevented companies from tracking users without their sole discretion and consent. A move that has rattled the whole industry and averted start-ups, newbies and illegal data brokers from accessing and recording what is rightfully yours. Early this year, Apple extended its agenda of utmost privacy by giving YOU control of your search history, screen time, usage patterns and everything that you would not want anyone to get their sticky and dirty hands on. However, the Android world has been lethargic to pay any heed to you and your demands. They definitely need to do slight catching. We have to employ our prudence to understand that such levels of statistics can only be collected only if user tracking was being done from the moment you set up your flashy new phone.
Spotify Wrapped has put Apple’s claim of blocking companies and apps from keeping tabs on you to an extraordinary test. If you see Spotify Wrapped this year even after disabling user tracking for all apps then it means that Apple’s “breakthrough and industry-leading” feature that was meant to obliterate the competition was ill-measured and half executed at best. As observed, Spotify Wrapped did come out and that too with accurate data. This has disappointed me personally and leaves me wondering how it is even possible when the practical difference of not having your data being collected was clear as crystal. But the feature overall certainly works to a large extent as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Needless to say, even minute improvements ensure that you can sleep safely under the dark, star-less, infinite sky. Without living under the constant shadow and horror that all your data is up for a garage sale on the other side of the globe while you were sitting ducks and staring back, slack-jawed, bewildered and wondering. Any form of the first step taken by the “pioneer” should persuade others to tread upon the well-walked path. This is an ultimatum for the rest of the tech giants to do the same except just lining their pockets with heaps of cash which are locked away in some Swiss Bank under “Mr. Oceans” (and handled by BlackRock).
