American, European, and Australian readers may not be familiar with this car but it is hugely popular in India. Well, widespread among the wealthy. The 6 Series GT sits between the 5 Series and 7 Series in the BMW sedan range. It's the best of both worlds - it offers a luxurious rear seat experience like the 7 Series while being incredibly fun to drive like the 5 Series. It's not particularly a sedan though. It is a Gran Turismo shape which is a swopping-back roof with a hatchback-style tailgate. The car, as the name suggests, is a cruiser at heart and comfort is at its very core.

It is over 5 meters long and is the longest car in the segment with the 2nd largest wheelbase (shorter only by 0.9cm than the Mercedes E Class). It is also the widest, tallest and heaviest. It has the biggest load-lugging capacity - a massive 600L. There are plenty of door bins inside the car and you can fit one big and several small bottles along with other stuff in each of the door bins. There are 2 cupholders both in the front and in the rear. There's a wireless charging pad in the front and also an arm-rest box which is big enough to house 2 phones. The glove box is surprisingly big and can swallow all the documents, a couple of bottles, and then some.

At the rear, there is another armrest that can accommodate 2 phones, a remote, and other miscellaneous stuff. There are also 3 USB ports in the car, 4 12V sockets, and 1 wireless charging where you can charge your devices. The door pockets are very big too - you would not notice a 12.9-inch iPad Pro there. The car is extremely practical and you will never feel that you are running out of space. There's even a storage space tucked under the boot where you can fit a duffel or shoulder bag.

The car is brimming with cutting-edge technology that will make you drool and awe. Starting with the outside, the BMW Adaptive Laser lights on M-sport trims are the most powerful BMW headlights to date. They can illuminate 600m ahead and truly turn night into day. The tail lights are beautifully flowing while being sharp and are very bright too. The car inside is a pool of luxury, and warmth and is rich with real leather, wood, and metal. This is a car in which the owner would be chauffer-driven, so let's begin with the rear. The doors are huge which makes it easier to get in and out. As you enter, you are greeted by the multi-color ambient lighting and entertainment screens mounted on the back of the driver and co-driver seat. The seats are plush with leather and are incredibly soft, accommodating, and wide. They seem like throne benches. You can even recline the backseats by 9 degrees. There are more buttons in the rear than in a normal car's dashboard.

On each rear door, there is a set of buttons to control the electronic sunblinds, and windows separately and together. You can stream movies and shows on the 10.2-inch infotainment screens, manage the car's settings, set navigations, check statistics and so much more. There are 5 fingers of headroom even for passengers who are 5'10''. There is one 750ml bottle height of legroom for the passenger when the passenger is about 5'8''. You can easily fit 3 in the car because it is quite wide and you would not find yourself fighting for shoulder or leg space but the middle seat is raised and a bit uncomfortable. There are 2 separate AC zones for the rear with individual fan control. You can even plug a game console into the entertainment screens as there are HDMI ports. You would not feel tired even on long journeys and can easily stretch and fall asleep because the air suspension at all 4 corners is supremely plush. It absorbs all bumps but does not have the best low-speed ride quality.

In the Comfort Plus mode, you feel like on a cloud of air just gliding through all undulations while the suspensions world is silently in the background. The sound insulation in the car is top-notch but there is a bit of wind noise. But you can easily drown it out by turning up the 600W 16 Harman Kardon speakers. The infotainment screen is a massive 12.3-inches. The digital instrument cluster is also 12.3-inches and is very vivid with navigation, controls, and different styles. The leather throughout the car is very soft and thick. You will not find even one bit of cheap or scratchy material throughout the car, even in the boot. It genuinely feels expensive and soothing to the touch. There are 2 AC zones in the front as well. There is also a huge panoramic sunroof and BMW's legendary personal assistant that can do anything and everything for you.

There are 4 modes in the car. You can deploy the rear spoiler at the touch of a button but it automatically deploys at around 110Kph. The car also lowers itself at a higher speed and you can raise the car from another button but the ride height is not a problem and would never scrape the bottom even on Indian roads. The car has a 360-degree surround camera that is probably the best I have ever seen in a car. It has park assistance and automatic brake interventions which would automatically apply brakes to stop you from crashing into someone or something while reversing. There are multiple angles and is color-accurate.

The car has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that automatically connects every time you step in the car provided your Bluetooth is on. The car has a gazillion features and it would take probably 5 blogs to talk about them all. The 6GT is a car at the end of the day. It's time we talk about the driving part. The car comes in 3 states of tune - 2L petrol with 255HP and 400NM of torque, 2L diesel with 190HP and 400NM of torque, and a fire-breathing 3L 6-cylinder engine with 265HP and a whopping 620NM of torque. All engines are very refined and very strong. You would not be struggling for power. The pickup and thrust are great and can pin you back in your seat in sports mode. The shifts are well-timed but you can make out when they are being shifted. The fuel efficiency, though not a concern for the rich, is 13-14Kmpl for 6 cylinder version overall.

Since the car is almost 1.8 tons, you feel the length and weight around the car and that is when you would need to shift the suspension into Sports mode to prevent the side-to-side rolling effect. The steering is light and agile. The brakes bite hard and do a good job to stop the huge limousine. The car can complete the 0-100 dash in under 6 seconds. The car is very fun to drive and you will always leave the car smiling.
