BMW i7: The KING of all EVs & Swift Dzire

Updated: Dec 28, 2022

BMW recently took the wraps off its first-ever all-electric limo built on a new platform. It was released alongside the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the 7 series. It beat speculations of BMW releasing the 7 series only as an all-electric model. That would have been a very bold but potentially disastrous move. The EV support structure is not developed enough in many countries including India which is one of the world’s biggest car markets. Like an electric car, the focus is sustainability and minimizing pollution. BMW has been very tight-lipped about its EV ambitions and is not rolling out as many EVs as Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche. This is concerning to a lot of people but things are getting better and they recently announced a slew of models that they plan to release in the coming years.

The car's over 5 meters in length and you can bet it looks good when you pull up from the side at the red carpet event silently. The silhouette of the car gives it a very swooping look. The car looks very futuristic and will certainly gain popularity among the Bel-Air rich folks. It turns a lot of heads and I cannot wait to see this car in India. The i7 is such a monumental step for BMW. They had been lagging till now in the EV market and it seems that they have finally become serious about it. There's nothing better than you ask for really. But my complaint is that the i7 is an electric 7 series and not an i7. Get it?

What I mean to say is that it is not distinct from the regular 7 series. Look how different the EQS is from the S class. That is what I want to see from an EV that looks like it is out of Star Wars. Maybe that is the strategy that BMW would employ in the future but that does not seem the case for now, at least.

You have the option to configure the car’s interior with cloth and recycled material instead of traditional leather. The production process is as green as ever – BMW i7 production plans pledge to become net zero carbon emitters soon and most of them are currently sourcing their energy from renewables like solar energy. The elephant in the room – the exterior and specifically, the grill. It is polarizing and not everyone would love it but you can be sure that it would turn heads at the red light and when it is hurtling down the road. I do like it and I like the way, they have split the headlights into two different units. I prefer the back to the front. There’s an emerging trend in the automotive world of a bar light running across the whole breadth of the car instead of just small tail lights. You have to see it to believe it. They are striking, to say the least.

The interior, however, is less polarizing and would appeal to almost everyone. You pull the stylish door handle, grab the soft steering wheel and sit in the ultra-comfortable, massaging, heating and cooling seats. You are greeted by an expansive 31-inch infotainment and driver’s display that can put Mercedes’s Hyper Screen to shame (almost). There are oodles of luxury and comfort features in the car and you can bet that the rear seats, with their reclining, massaging, heating, cooling, 8K screen-equipped screens are best suited for the multi-millionaire in the back while signing that $50 million merger. Air suspension ensures that the only thing you feel while riding in the back is ……. nothing.

As and when the car comes to India, it will come in the form of a long-wheelbase version which is well over 5.1 meters and promises great comfort in the back which is of paramount importance to luxury car buyers in India because we are chauffer-driven everywhere. The 6500$ cinema screen is out of this world. You see such big screens in cars generally as a custom fit. I hope that the tv has Bluetooth otherwise it would be very distracting for the driver. I am sure BMW engineers will figure it out. I want to see BMW release more and more EVs in India as there is a lot of enthusiasm and the luxury EV space is currently being dominated by Audi and Mercedes.

The multi-color ambient lighting, several drive modes, and customization features will always keep you engaged. The dual motor i7 M70 550hp 110 kWh battery makes the i7 one of the most powerful cars in the world. The word is that it can go an estimated 630kms on a single charge – about 70kms more than the EQS. The only slight problem, it will set you back about 120,000$ in the US and more than 1.8cr in India. If you have that kind of money, you are one lucky person!!!

SWIFT DZIRE

The face of the car is particularly unexciting and is rather conservative. It has the looks of a family sedan and will not be noticed anywhere. The design is starting to feel its age a little bit and we deserve sharper lines now. I like the interior of the car. It is spacious, light colored and has all the basic amenities like touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the higher spec versions.

Levels of comfort at the front and the rear seats are high, even when compared to most rivals. There's plenty of space up front, and the Dzire's long 2,450mm wheelbase means there's loads of legroom in the rear as well. Two tall passengers, in fact, can comfortably sit one behind the other. In addition, the back seat is supportive and nicely reclined, and since there's a vent at the rear, it makes for a very competent chauffeur-driven car; quite impressive for a compact sedan.

With its comfortable, large and well-equipped cabin, friendly driving manners and refined performance, Maruti's Dzire petrol has enjoyed a long stint at the top of its class. The Dzire may not be the most fun car to drive and the Hyundai Aura with its turbo engine clearly has more performance. Still, what keeps the Maruti perched at the top is the fact that it has been such a good all-rounder. And now that it comes with a smoother, more refined, more responsive, more powerful and more efficient engine, and more kit as well, it is better still. The top-of-the-line ZXi+ automatic is a bit expensive with an ex-showroom price of Rs 8.80 lakh, but if you are looking for a compact sedan, the Dzire should be at the top of your list.

INCREASING HATE TOWARDS INDIANS IN EUROPE AND AMERICA

India is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country, and the most populous democracy in the world. Which was dominated by Britain for over nine decades. Years after gaining independence , success in terms of foreign activity started to take birth. Now, India stands with its own children being the top most CEOs of the world - Arvind Krishna, Shantanu Narayen, Ajay Banga, and Satya Nadella. With this flourishment of prosperity, jealousy from the US and Europe stepped in.

“Outsiders” “Intruders” “Unworthy” are some of the most common terms used by The States for Indian Americans. Given that Indians are the highest paid ethnic group in the United States and that their average page is 50% more than that of the average white American, many Americans believe that Indians grab their jobs.

In recent months, there has been a noticeable rise in violence and intolerance towards Indian Americans. Although bias against immigrants of colour has a long history in the United States dating back to the late 19th century, the recent devastating coronavirus pandemic has increased animosity toward people of Asian origin, shining a new light on the discrimination that many Asian immigrant populations face in the country.

8 out of 10 Americans perceive that Indians are rapists and potential criminals based only on their colour. Discrimination based upon race is the most prevalent type of prejudice, with over 3 out of 5 respondents reporting having experienced it in the previous year. This is a strong reminder of how race has historically been the only indicator of hierarchical distinction in American culture, correlating with related research from other places.

Recently, The most recent FBI Hate Crime Statistics for 2020 show a significant increase in crimes motivated by hatred against Indian Americans, including Sikhs, Muslims, and Hindus.According to a study issued by the Justice Department on August 30, 71 Sikh Americans were victims of a hate crime in 2020; 47 criminals targeted the group in 67 incidents.

Moreover, the hatred for the new Rishi Sunak is being fueled daily. Thousands of questions, allegations and memes follow the man of pride. Would this be the same in the case of a white president?Does being Indian make him less worthy of the position he is at?

The nation of culture and variety is currently thought to be falling behind in terms of advancing its traditions.Americans firmly believe that India is a country rife with superstitions, despite the fact that American culture is expected to be accepted by all nations.

Growing as a nation in terms of international affairs brings back a lot of animosity. Was this what we aimed to achieve? It's time for internet demonstrations and conversations to emerge. If we don’t stand for ourselves no one else will. Grab your phone , write that tweet that beholds immense power. It's time for the present to work for the future so our upcoming generations are never accused of being less worthy.
