SCANNING OF PERSONAL PHOTO GALLERY BY SAMSUNG

Updated: Oct 3, 2022

With the recent updates, there have more and more updates and additions of features to the Samsung Gallery app. Now, at the top right there is an option of grouping or ungrouping similar photos. Such a feature is only possible if it scans all the photos thoroughly and then allows for this feature to take place. This highlights a larger trend in the society and tech world where it is becoming increasingly acceptable and normal to collect data without your permission and processing it however the company wants. These are things we did not sign up for but are still becoming the victims of new-age mass data collection.

My biggest grievance is that such activities cannot be blocked and also that although companies claim not to go through and store our data in their privacy policies, there is no way for the common person to validate the authenticity of the fact. It leaves me wondering if my data is really mine or just a commodity for the tech giants.

Another feature that is proof of Samsung going through our pictures is that some of their phones like the Samsung A51 and Samsung A71 recommend us pictures from the gallery that we should probably move and hide in a private gallery. Such an extent of analysis and tracking is fraudulent. Most of the pictures recommended to hide are those which capture intimate moments or pictures showing more-than-usual parts of skin and body. This is as unnerving as it gets in this universe. . People have been deceived and fooled for a long time. But not anymore, at least not in the most democratic country in the world.
