WHICH IPHONE SHOULD YOU BUY WHEN THE NEW ONE COMES OUT ?

Updated: Jul 16, 2022

In the last quarter of every year, Apple releases its new phones which people avidly wait for. But before you rush to the Apple website to order the newest one, you need to take a look at the other ones on sale too.

I suggest and am a firm believer that you shouldn’t buy an iPhone older than a year. Apple gives 6 years of software updates but buying a 2-year-old iPhone is not helpful. It isn’t much cheaper than just the last one and you lose a lot for 10,000 Rs less. Last year’s non-pro models are the most bang-for-the-buck deal. They remain relatively newfangled for the next 4-5 years thanks to the reliable OS updates. They also receive the highest discounts around the Diwali season which is just after the launch event.

The Pro models because of their unpopularity don’t receive a big discount as such. And since Pro models start from 120,000 Rs in India now, they don’t shed more than 20,000 Rs. The best scenario though is to buy iPhones from the US or Dubai. You save more than you can imagine. And if you get this golden opportunity, by all means buy the Pro/Pro Max model without any hesitation.

And if you only want the latest phone, then buy the non-pro iPhone only. Buying the Pro iPhone from India doesn’t make even the least sense. 40,000 Rs isn’t a negligible amount and additions don’t justify the exorbitant price difference.

FUN FACT: China is currently Apple’s second biggest market, trailing only the United States. Revenue in China grew to nearly $17 billion in the second quarter of 2015.
