WHY IPHONE SE IS THE WORST

iPhone SE is hailed as a “revolutionizing” device at an affordable price point (by Apple’s standard). But it is probably the worst piece of tech I have encountered in 17 years. I totally get the motive and target audience but even they aren’t entitled to such a compromised and skimpy product.

The phone looks old even by 2017 standards and we are well into 2022. I don’t remember the last time I saw such a small screen which made my eyes wet (because of the screen size and the foolishness of Apple). You would be pretty charmed to extract more than 4 hours of screen on time from that puny 4.7-inch phone.

The camera and processor are still top-notch in the segment but I prefer a phone that will actually last a day to one that works well but only for a few hours. Yes, I should focus on quantity over numbers but that is not how the competitive smartphone market works where the competition is cut-throat.

It would actually give the impression that you are carrying a 5-year-old iPhone.

The leaks of the iPhone SE 3 are making rounds and I don’t want 5G at the cost of that extinct design. Swap in a weaker chip and less advanced cameras but at least give us the occasion to experience a big display at 40,000 Rs. I would be delighted if the new SE is based on the XR design. Then it would be totally acceptable but also very unlikely to happen. The SE 2 is often available for less than 30K on Amazon and Flipkart but don’t buy it just for the Apple experience because it is worse than what you associate with the world's most valuable company. I feel a screen should at least be 6 inches to handle today's multi-tasking and content-consuming.

I would never recommend the iPhone SE to anyone. Buy a capable Android smartphone and you will be more than content with the experience. Living with an iPhone SE is tormenting. If you really like small phones, get the 12 Mini/ 13 Mini. You could also get the 12 Mini for 40,000Rs from Flipkart during the festive season.

FUN FACT: Apple and Samsung are the biggest nemeses but Samsung supplies displays to Apple. Apple may in the future turn to LG for the same in its quest to reduce its dependence.
